There is a neat statistic by blogpulse.com that shows how many blogs are there in the WWW today? I’d love a drum roll for this one but I doubt I’ll get it. So here it goes: the number given by BlogPulse is 152,301,210 blogs. They even call it a blogosphere which is pretty funny, right?
Now why would so many people, much more than my country’s population launch these blogs and write posts on a monthly, weekly or even daily basis? It’s just crazy, right?
Why did I launched this blog?

That’s a pretty fair question… since my writing skills are not even close to good, but how is that for a reason to launch a blog? It’s not the only reason, of course, but it’s a nice benefit: to improve my writing skills. I’ve actually never gotten a good grade on an essay or any kind of literature-related text in school, I think. But if we don’t get out of our comfort zone once in a while how are we going to acquire new skills? We couldn’t… we’d be stuck with the same skills at the same level.
To be honest just a few months ago I actually didn’t see the point in setting up a blog. But it’s amazing how we as human beings sometimes change our mind dramatically about stuff from nowhere… I just didn’t seem to get the point of it all back then. But I had to catch-up with today’s fast-growing internet community and here I am.
These days, the concept of starting up your own blog is getting really popular. According to a research there are more than 152 million established blogs available on the Internet. I’ll state again the fact that this is A LOT more than my country’s population. Heck, it’s a lot more than Germany’s, France’s or UK’s populations. Some of these blogs are purely marketing tools, some are more of a learning centers… There are, of course, many entirely personal blogs, too. So when it comes to blogs’ purposes you are the one who sets the limits.
Imma mix it up a notch

Now of course I don’t expect any of you guys to follow me in any way /here they are: twitter, facebook, behance/ just because I write about my love life or how I didn’t like the chicken at KFC last night. That’s why I’m going to mix the personal stories with some useful things, which are mainly targeted towards web designers, but let’s face it – lots of principles in lots of different scenarios overlap so you might take a lot of the story, even though you are not a designer.
What I’ll try to do here is I’ll try to contribute as much as possible to anyone who’s willing to take it. I don’t know if your familiar with the concept of Teaching to Learn. It’s as simple as that:
When you learn something – you’re going to forget it if you don’t repeat it enough. Now that’s just how our memory works so no surprise there, right? I mean how many times did you have to repeat some kind of a definition in school just to remember it for a test and a weak, month or a year later you’ve forgotten all about it?
However, when you teach something new that you’ve just learned – it stores much deeper into your memory or into your subconscious mind… or into some closet in your brain, how should I know, I’m not a neurologist
Never mind how but it works, the fact is that you learn stuff much faster and better when you contribute to others by teaching them.
To wrap it up

Okay, you see… with this fast-growing internet marketing and all the other sales tools out there known to men, I think it’s a good thing to have a blog. Which will also differ me as an individual… because come on, we all have different personalities and one of the ways to show them through in the global web is to blog from time to time about your experiences.
This is my personal motivation-boost tool, so I won’t expect you guys to get on board with it immediately. I do understand that this or many more posts won’t give me the viewership I’d like to have. But I think I’m getting there and hopefully I’ll be as helpful as a cold medicine… wow, that’s an odd metaphor, but I think you got it
Oh and finally…
Since I’m writing my first post during the holidays, it seems appropriate to… yes, you guessed it… wish you guys a Marry Christmas. I mean to these who celebrates it anyway. And of course I wish all of you a happy and successful new year.
I’d love to know what you think, so please use the form below to leave me a comment.
